For the feature film Kids and Ghosts, a main character gets stabbed in the eye with a key. To do this, we created a scarily realistic silicone version of the actors head, complete with hand-punched hair. A special mechanism allowed us to load in painted gelatin eyeballs and pump blood through them when stabbed. Though the final effect will only be on screen for a couple seconds, it’s those small touches that really help an audience suspend their disbelief.
